Shiawassee Supervision Fields in OTIS
OTIS separates status from dates. “Parolee” means the person has physically left prison but remains under MDOC control. “Discharged” means MDOC supervision ended for the displayed sentence. “Prisoner” means the person is still in state custody, while “Probationer” means community supervision without proof of a prior prison stay. Parole and probation absconder filters show active jurisdiction with a changed compliance status, not a routine discharge.
The date fields require care. Earliest Release Date is the point at which Parole Board jurisdiction may begin, not a promised departure. Date Paroled is the stronger public marker that prison release into parole occurred. Maximum Discharge Date is the outside sentence endpoint if earlier parole does not take place, subject to the rules for that sentence. Note: OTIS generally removes a public record three years after supervision discharge, so a blank result cannot disprove an older release.

Shiawassee Parole Board Decisions
The Michigan Parole Board is the sole paroling authority for MDOC prisoners. Most decisions use three-member panels, while lifer decisions require a majority of the full Board. Eligibility does not guarantee release. MCL 791.233 requires a public-safety finding, MCL 791.234 governs when jurisdiction begins, and MCL 791.235 governs the process while making clear that parole is not an entitlement.
A favorable decision still precedes physical departure. The Parole Release Unit coordinates placement, notice, the parole date, the term, and special conditions. New misconduct or adverse information can suspend a grant before release. Therefore, a scheduled hearing proves only that a matter was set, and “granted” means approval subject to release processing. Shiawassee Supervision Absconder Status
OTIS has separate Parole Absconder and Probation Absconder filters. MDOC defines a parole absconder as a person actively sought by the department. Jurisdiction over a probation absconder remains with the sentencing county. Neither label means supervision ended. It also does not, by itself, disclose the alleged breach, a warrant's terms, or the person's present location.
Verify the status through the listed supervising office and the relevant court record. The MDOC absconder and escapee tip line is 517-755-0855. Do not treat a rumor, a missed appointment, or a stale third-party page as an official absconder finding. A warrant is a court command for arrest; an absconder label is a supervision status. The two may overlap, but they are not interchangeable.

Property After Shiawassee Jail Release
Michigan's local law-enforcement retention schedule treats personal-property records separately from the main inmate jacket. General Schedule 11, item 11.212, retains property intake and release records through the end of the calendar year plus one year. Item 11.210 also lists property release forms among records that may appear in an inmate jacket, which may be retained until release plus ten years.
Shiawassee County publishes no property-pickup policy. A person trying to confirm whether property was returned should call the jail at 989-743-2230 or request the relevant acknowledgment through the Sheriff. That form can document the property transaction, but it does not establish parole or probation status. Likewise, a supervision office should not be asked to resolve a jail property record it did not create.

When Shiawassee Supervision Ends
Supervision ends through a formal discharge, not merely because a person stops appearing at an office or reaches an estimated date.
